The Filmkulisse Bayern initiative offers valuable services for the film and tourism industries and takes advantage of synergies between the two.

The FFF Film Commission and Bayern Tourismus Marketing work together closely to optimally support both sectors. Patron of the initiative is the Munich-based actress Veronica Ferres.

Advantages for the film industry

The core of the Filmkulisse Bayern is a moods data bank on the website www.filmkulisse-bayern.de which presents countless film locations in Bavaria and is updated on a continuous basis. The website also offers an additional platform for location scouts and agents. In addition to the services offered by the Film Commission, Filmkulisse Bayern supports production teams with specific projects on location, offers counsel in the choice of film locations and accommodations, provides logistical services and mediates with administrative authorities in order to facilitate shooting permits. Moreover, Filmkulisse Bayern establishes contacts to service providers on location. It is decisive that all local tourism authorities are part of the project. For the film industry, this is a vital simplification in the preparation for the shooting. To prepare the tourism partners for the cooperation with the film industry, the Filmkulisse team will organize various workshops.

The Filmkulisse can also provide, upon request, initial scouting services for international productions and stages workshops and meetings in order to more strongly link the film and tourism industries. A cross-media marketing platform is also planned for distributors and sales agents. With the website www.filmkulisse-bayern.de, but also at trade shows and other events, Filmkulisse promotes Bavaria as a film location.

Advantages for the tourism industry

The Filmkulisse website presents a movie map which reports on the various film productions in Bavaria. Film fans can find out more about the film locations of their favorite films and series. This is intended to strengthen film tourism and create new opportunities for tourism marketing. The film images are to contribute in the promotion of film locations and regions. Moreover, cooperative marketing opportunities about specific film projects are made possible between the film and tourism industries. The Filmkulisse Bayern offers new topics and participation possibilities for tourism marketing and contributes to the overall PR for the holiday destination Bavaria.

FFF Bayern and Bayern Tourismus Marketing GmbH (by.TM), in cooperation with the Media Network Bavaria, launched the Filmkulisse Bayern at the FFF reception during the Berlinale 2014. The two founding partners were financially supported by the Media Network Bavaria. The concept for the Filmkulisse Bayern was developed from the many years of experience of both the Film Commission and Bayern Tourismus where it became clear that a close cooperation between film and tourism could be beneficial to take advantage of common synergies and translate these in a digital and virtual manner. Since its establishment in January 2014 and the launch in February 2014, the founders have presented the initiative at important events, including at the ITB Berlin, the Bavarian Tourism Fair, in various regions for local tourist authorities, in Munich and in the Bavaria Studios in Grünwald for the film industry.
