14/09/2012 - European co-production projects have until September 21 to respond to the call for applications (read more) for the Work in Progress section at the fourth Les Arcs European Film Festival (from December 15 to 22, 2012).

The seven titles Frédéric Boyer selected last year for Work in Progress included Italian filmmaker Danielle Ciprì's It Was the Son [trailer] (that competed and won an award at the recent Venice Film Festival) and Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur's The Deep (photo - that just made its world premiere at a Special Presentation at the Toronto Film Festival).

Also at this year's Les Arcs film festival, the DIRE Days (Journées DIRE) are to be held from December 19 to 22. The event will bring together distributors and exhibitors from all over the world for premieres, a presentation of 2013 line-ups, and a round table. The 13 members of DIRE are independent French distributors Ad Vitam, Bac Films, Diaphana, Haut et Court, Happiness Distribution, Le Pacte, Les Films du Losange, Mars Distribution, Memento Films , Pyramide, Rezo Films, UFO Distribution, and Wild Bunch Distribution.
